Biography

imageTina Rine-DeTrano

My family and I have been parishioners of St. Rose of Lima for 28 years, in which time I became active in parish life through the ministries of outreach and religious education.  For 14 years I volunteered as a catechist, and with much joy and excitement celebrated the faith development of the children of our parish.  During that time I pursued many opportunities to grow in the ministry of catechesis by attending various diocesan workshops and entered the Pastoral Formation Institute in 2004.  My experience in the Institute continues today through tracks of study, as well as volunteering my time at weekend retreats and workshops at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington.
As the coordinator of religious education for grades 4-6 I have the honor and the privilege to work with a dedicated core of volunteer catechists who have answered the call to share their faith with the youngest members of our parish community here at St. Rose.  In addition to the faith formation of the children, together we foster a strong call to active participation in community service events and stewardship opportunities.  To be witness to the energy, vibrancy and the promise of the youngest members of our parish community in their commitment to put their faith into action continues to excite and energize the parish staff and our volunteers in the call to catechesis.
