Welcome

Dear Friends of St. Rose of Lima Parish Family,

St. Rose of Lima ParishPlease be assured that you are most welcome at St. Rose of Lima.   We are a very large parish (6,700 families) but, thank God, St. Rose is also a very active parish.  Our people have a diversity of talents which they share with great generosity in a wide variety of ministries.  Through ministry they touch the lives of others.  They also get real satisfaction from helping others and they become stronger themselves. The Liturgy is the “source and summit” of our lives as Christians.  The Eucharist and all the other sacraments assure us that Jesus wants to be with us at each stage of our life’s journey.   Please feel most welcome to come and worship with us.  By sharing in Word and Sacrament, the bonds that unite us to each other and to our God become stronger and stronger.   Jesus longs to journey with each of us as he walked with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).  He rejoices when we recognize him in the breaking of the bread and in each other.

Please let us know ways in which we might better serve you.  We have ministries to answer a great number of basic needs which our people experience.  God takes care of us and we try to take care of each other as well.  “Love one another, as I have loved you” (John 15:12).  We have groups of many different kinds to help us break out of isolation; e.g., Youth Group, five different choirs, an adoptive parents group, Moms and Tots, bereavement groups, and other groups to answer one or another need. We have ministers who visit homebound, the hospitalized, and those in need of help in one form or another.  Others do financial counseling or help find employment.  We have extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, lectors, ushers, ministers of hospitality, and altar servers.  We have the Sew ‘n Sews, and a group for retired persons. We have adult education, a parish grammar school, religious education, and the largest Catholic Youth Organization (Ministry) in the diocese.  These examples give you some idea of the great vitality of the parish of St. Rose of Lima.

Come and share your special giftedness for the benefit of others.  Or come and let us do our best to work with you to answer your own needs and longings.

On behalf of the priests, deacons, Sisters, and the outstanding men and women of our Pastoral Team, on behalf of the dedicated staff of St. Rose, and on behalf of all our wonderful parishioners, I once again say, “Welcome!”

Peace!

Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Hurley
Pastor
